I did find this a bit long and was starting to think this book was going to be more dialog than story but it got moving and had me interested in seeing where it was heading. The beginning has a lot of dialog but you learn all about Gustav's brother Pierre who we met at the end of book #1. This book picks up from where we left off in book one learning about the Levi brothers dark secrets and is very dark and heavy. Gustav in this book is opening up more to the relationship with Serena but still is very mysterious and handsome. Bond really makes you feel part of the action and you feel for the characters.

I am looking forward to the final installment of the Unbreakable Trilogy now that I am fully invested in the story line and I want to know what happens to Gustav & Serena.

This book was WAY out there for myself but I continued to read on and really enjoyed this book. I love how Primula Bond is a fabulous story teller she grabs you right from the beginning and hooks you for the rest of the book even if it isn't really something that you think is "real" life. I have really had a love/hate relationship with this series. I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Ms Bond has drawn me into the sexy, debaucherous world of Gustav and Serena, and I can't wait to find out how their story ends. One thing though - I know the people Gustav has dealt with in the past are all very depraved and debauched, but seriously, every time Serena is left in a room with two or more people, they are all trying to drag her into a threesome!!! This did get a little bit tiresome as the book moved on. They have their fair share of outside forces trying to destroy their relationship, and we see the strength within them both as they fight to keep their relationship together. We got to connect a lot more with them, as their burgeoning relationship starts to come together. I did feel for her.īut this is really all about Gustav and Serena for me. Serena's best friend/cousin Polly - she's a pretty messed up girl. We met Gustav's estranged brother Pierre at the end of The Silver Chain, and even though he tries to make us like him, the more I read of him through the story, the more I really did dislike him! And boy, is there some nitty and some gritty! These are some very complex characters! Now we have met everyone, we can get to the nitty gritty of the characters. I have to say that I liked this book better than the first one. The Golden Locket continues on directly where book 1, The Silver Chain ends, so you will need to read that one first to get the whole picture.
