

“We have a bunch of stuff in property we know is stolen, but if you don’t have the serial numbers you don’t have proof of who the owner is,” Ortega said. “Everybody needs to watch out for each other, so ask your neighbors to be on the lookout,” Ortega said.įinally, maintaining serial numbers can be a huge help to police in connecting stolen items to their owners. “Securing items seems to be enough of a deterrent.”
